Round nine of the 2024 Major League Soccer campaign will see Los Angeles FC play host to New York Red Bulls at the BMO Stadium on Sunday.
Los Angeles played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Portland Timbers when the sides met at Providence Park last Saturday.
Steve Cherundolo’s side trailed 1-0 and 2-1 to strikes from Felipe Mora and Evander but managed to draw level on both occasions through Mateusz Bogusz.
Consequently, the Black and Gold have dropped to sixth position in the Western Conference standings, although just four points behind their city rivals LA Galaxy at the top of the table.
Having secured four wins and one draw from their last five matches on home turf, Los Angeles are flying in front of their fans and will take some stopping here.
Meanwhile, New York RB showed great spirit to come away with honours even from their encounter with Chicago Fire at the Red Bull Arena last Sunday.
The Bulls played the majority of the game with a numerical disadvantage following Andres Reyes’ red card, but they put on a solid defensive display in the second half to secure a point.
With 15 points collected from their eight matches so far, New York RB sit second in the Eastern Conference standings, level on points with leaders Inter Miami despite playing a game fewer.
Unbeaten in four of their last five away matches, Sandro Schwarz’s side have proven themselves to be a tough team to beat on the road of late.
