Roma vs Bayer Leverkusen Match Analysis & Prediction

Once again pitted together in the Europa League semi-finals, AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen will reconvene at Stadio Olimpico for Thursday night’s first leg.
Prevailing from an all-Italian tie in the Europa League quarter-finals, Roma finished the job against AC Milan after securing a narrow lead from the first leg at San Siro and then winning 2-1 on home soil one week later.
Gianluca Mancini scored for a second time in the tie, before Paulo Dybala produced the killer blow sooner after, and despite Zeki Celik’s subsequent dismissal, Roma held on and extended their quest to make a third straight European fina – but the first without former manager Jose Mourinho.
Should they reach the final, Roma will be led out by club legend and current coach Daniele De Rossi, who has overseen 13 victories and just three losses in 20 matches since taking temporary charge in January, following Mourinho’s sacking.
The Giallorissi still occupy fifth position in the Serie A standings, just ahead of Atalanta BC, but following a 2-2 draw in last week’s Derby del Sole, they still have plenty of work remaining
It took a late Tammy Abraham equaliser to salvage that point against Napoli, while Roma lost a recent encounter with fourth-placed Bologna, but they could still claim a spot at the Champions League by winning the Europa League.
Although Leverkusen also drew 2-2 last time out, their domestic situtation contrasts somewhat with Roma, as they were sentationally crowned German champions with several weeks to spare.
The Bundesliga winners scored a last-gasp equaliser for the third time running to deny Stuttgart at the weekend, taking their remarkable unbreaten run to 46 matches across all competitions, of which they have won some 38.
The 44th game in that streak was the 1-1 draw at West Ham United that secured a spot in the Europa League semi-finals, and Jeremie Frimpong’s late equaliser helped set a new all-time mark for matches unbeaten throughout Europe’s top five leagues.
Roma vs. Bayer Leverkusen Head to head
In the previous six meetings between these two teams, Roma have claimed two victories while Leverkusen have won one, while they have drawn in three. They have each scored 10 goals in the process.
