Bristol Rovers vs Norwich City Match Analysis & Prediction
17/01/2024 10:45 pm
A fourth-round trip to Liverpool awaits the winners of Wednesday’s FA Cup third-round replay between League One side Bristol Rovers and Championship outfit Norwich City at the Memorial Stadium.
The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse match at Carrow Road on January 6, with Grant Ward cancelling out an early opener from Ashely Barnes.
Bristol Rovers are still searching for their first win of the new year as their draw with Norwich came in between two League One defeats away to Wycombe Wanderers and Barnsley, losing 2-1 to the latter last weekend.
The Pirates shift their attention to Wednesday’s tie against Norwich and will be looking to progress to the FA Cup fourth round for the first time since the 2007-08 season when they reached the quarter-finals.
Matt Taylor’s side will welcome a return to the Memorial Stadium where they are unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions, including six wins.
After drawing their opening two matches of 2024 by a 1-1 scoreline, including the aforementioned FA Cup tie with Bristol Rovers, Norwich secured their first victory of the new year away against Hull City last Friday, winning 2-1 in the Championship.
David Wagner’s side enter Wednesday’s tie against Bristol Rovers seeking to progress to the FA Cup fourth round for the fourth time in the last five seasons, while they won their last visits to the Memorial Stadium 3-0.
However, it is fair to say that Norwich are not fanatics of an FA Cup replay as they have been eliminated from their last five such games in the competition, with all five coming in the third round between 2007-08 and 2017-18.

George Long could return in goal for Norwich at the expense of Angus Gunn, while Kellen Fisher, Danny Batth, Grant Hanley and Ben Gibson will all be pushing to start in defence.
