Manchester City and Liverpool prepare to go toe-to-toe for the second straight weekend this Saturday, but this time in the first semi-final of the FA Cup at Wembley. The showdown is scheduled to kickoff at 17:30.
The two played out another pulsating 2-2 draw this season at Etihad last weekend in a match that was billed as a potential Premier League decider. A share of the spoils however means that the race still closely on as they still are separated by just one point at the summit of the table.
Following the epic encounter they were both involved in feisty Champions League matches on Wednesday night, with Manchester City recording a hard fought 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano in a match that was accompanied by unpleasant scenes at the end; while Liverpool were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Benfica at Anfield with the Portuguese putting in an impressive fight in second half, scaring the Reds for a moment.
However, both sides managed to book their places in the last four of the competition on aggregates with City overcoming Atletico 1-0, while Liverpool edging Benfica 6-4. There’s a good chance the two could meet in the final of the competition, but before then these titans clash in the FA Cup semi-finals with either side seeking a place against either Chelsea or Crystal Palace in the final.
The two will have everything to prove in this match with Pep Guardiola looking to outwit Klopp to lay down a maker for the rest of the season, while Jurgen Klopp will want to send fears to Pep and try to push him off the track.
