Blackpool vs Nottingham Forest Match Analysis & Prediction
17/01/2024 10:45 pm
League One side Blackpool play host to Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest at Bloomfield Road for an FA Cup third-round replay on Wednesday night.
Forest came from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture at the City Ground just over a week ago, and the winners of the replay will set up a fourth-round tie with either West Ham United or Bristol City.
The Tricky Trees are at risk of receiving a points deduction in the Premier League, but Nuno Espirito Santo will be keen to ensure that his players are focused fully on what they can do on the pitch.
They start with Wednesday’s FA Cup tie with Blackpool as they endeavour to avoid losing a third successive third-round replay, having previously suffered defeat to Birmingham City (2009-10) and Leicester City 2011-12).
Despite letting a two-goal lead slip in the draw with Forest, Neil Critchley was able to take plenty of positives from the performance of his Blackpool side, who have since secured back-to-back home victories in two different competitions against Burton Albion and Exeter City.
After claiming a 2-1 victory over Burton last week to progress to the quarter-finals of the EFL Trophy, Blackpool secured a 2-0 win against Exeter City in League One last Saturday through two first-half goals from in-form midfielder Albie Morgan.
The Tangarines are now attempting to continue their run in the FA Cup and progress to the fourth round for the third time in four years, as well as advance from the third round in successive seasons for the first time since 1969-70 and 1970-71.
Blackpool vs. Nottingham Forest Head to head
In the 44 previous meetings between these two teams, Blackpool have claimed 14 victories while Forest have won 16, and they have drawn in 14. Forest have scored 64 goals and conceded 57 in the process.

Blackpool are set to be without injuries duo Jake Beesley and Kylian Kouassi, while Matthew Pennington, who has missed the last five matches due to concussion protocols, remains doubtful.
Critchely may consider making changes in the wing-back positions, with Jordan Lawrence-Gabriel and Andy Lyons pushing to start ahead of Kyle Joseph and Hayden Coulson respectively.
