Nigeria battle Tunisia in the second fixture of round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations at the Roumde Adjia Stadium on Sunday night with kickoff at 22:00.
Nigeria have made a fine AFCON campaign in Cameroon so far with the side being the only one to finish the group stage a 100% record. They finished Group D above the competition’s record holders Egypt having opened impressively with a 1-0 win against the Pharaohs.
They didn’t stop there as they went on to edge Sudan 3-1 in the second group fixture before closing up with a 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau.
Indeed the Super Eagles have displayed their class in this edition and seem to have completely moved on form their pre-tournament problems and will be looking to push to the end.
Meanwhile Tunisia have been at their best in this year’s AFCON with the side being lucky to qualify as one of the third best teams despite being tipped to win Group F.
They opened the competition with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Mali, and then did well to bounce with a 4-0 victory over Mauritania before falling again to a 1-0 defeat to Gambia in their final group match. As result they finished in third on three points, four points behind both Mali and Gambia, with mali winning the group on goal-difference.
They head into the match in a poor form having only won one of their last four fixture across all competitions and although they will want to proceed to the next stage it will hard with their current form and they haven’t won against the Super Eagles in their last six encounters.
