Morocco and Ghana are set to begin their 2021 AFCON campaign when they lock horns at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Cameroon. The match is set to begin at 19:00 of 10th January 2021.
Morocco is making their third straight appearance in the African continental competition after they finished at the summit of group E in the qualifiers. Even without the talismanic Hakim Ziyech in their squad, Morocco look a top class outfit heading into this AFCON tournament with the likes of Sevilla pair En Nesyri & El Haddadi, Dortmund star Hakimi, QPR star Chair and more set to feature in this competition.
Morocco will be looking for similar results as their previous 3-0 WC Qualifiers – Africa triumph against Guinea. Matches involving Morocco have often been absorbing affairs lately with plenty of scoring anticipated. Over their past six clashes alone, the sum total of 21 goals have gone in for both sides combined (at an average of 3.5 goals per game) with 20 of those accredited to Morocco.
Ghana on the other hand will be seeking their fifth title on in their ninth consecutive appearance in the African continental battle field.
Heading into this game Ghana is prepared with familiar faces and experienced squad such as Arsenal’s midfield man Thomas Partey, Leicester’s Daniel Amartey and Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace. There is much more talent than those notable Premier League stars, but they will need those guys firing against the foe with same strength here.
In their previous game Ghana suffered 3-0 loss in the hands Algeria and they will be looking to redeem themselves in this fixture. The Black stars secured a spot place in this year’s edition of the tournament following an impressive run where they won four, drew one and lost one to collect 13 points from six games and finish top of Group C in the qualifiers.
