Morocco will be looking step one foot in the knockout stages of the ongoing AFCON when they play Comoros in their second group match at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Friday evening with kickoff at 19:00.
Morocco opened their African Cup of Nation campaign on the front foot as they edged their fellow group favorites Ghana 1-0 last Monday, with former Southampton man Sofiane Boufal breaking the deadlock in the 83rd minute.
The Atlas Lions sit at summit of Group C level on points with Gabon, who beat Comoros 1-0 in the other group fixture. They will now be looking to seal a place in knockout stage with three points on Friday and they will fancy their chances given their recent form as they have only lost one of their last 27 matches across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Comoros opened they first ever appearance at the African Cup of Nations with a defeat as they fell to 1-0 loss to Gabon on Monday, with Aaron-Salem Boupendza finding the net in the 16th minute to hand Les Pantheres a vital opening-day victory.
Amir Abdou’s side now faces an early exit from the competition as they are currently bottom of the group, alongside Ghana.
Therefore, they will be looking to keep their chances of advancing to the knockout stages with a win on Friday, but they have been in a poor form recently with the side, managing just one win from their last six games across all competitions and they face one of the most form sides in the competiton.
