St Mirren will be looking to extend their seven-match unbeaten run across all competitions when they travel to Tony Macaroni Arena to take on a struggling Livingston in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday evening with kickoff at 18:00.
Despite their performances seeing improvements in 2022, Livingston still lack consistency as they have not picked up back-to-back victories in their last six encounters and head into the match in a poor form having only won two of their last six matches, while picking up a draw and suffering three defeats in the process.
Their inconsistency continued on last weekend where they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Hearts with a 4-3 scoreline in the penalty shootout following the 0-0 draw in the normal and extra time. Prior to the defeat David Martindale’s side were coming off a 1-1 draw against Ross County which saw them slip down to the ninth spot.
With now nine points separating them from the relegation zone and having played one match more than Dundee who sit in the drop zone Martindale will be aware of the importance of a victory on Saturday and thus we expect Livingston to fight tooth and nail for the three points.
Meanwhile St Mirren have been on the upward trajectory in the Premiership thanks to their recent run that has seen them collect 12 points from their last five league matches and as result the Saints sit in the sixth spot on 32 points, one point outside the bottom half.
They head into the match in a fine as they haven’t lost in any of their last seven matches across all competitions claiming six wins and a draw in the run and are coming off a three-match winning streak, which includes the 4-0 thumping of Kelty hearts in the Scottish Cup.
Therefore Jim Goodwin’s side will be looking to extend their winning streak as they aim at climbing further up the table, with a win on Saturday potentially leaving them in the fourth spot and they will fancy their chances as they are unbeaten in their last two meeting with Livingston.
