Egypt and Guinea will kick start their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign when they lock horns at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday.
Egypt will be looking to put behind their heartbreaks in missing out on the AFCON title and a spot in the coming FIFA World Cup finals in Qatar, with a positive start to this campaign on Sunday. The Pharaohs are favorites to finish top of Group D, which also has Malawi and Ethiopia in it.
They will also fancy their chances of opening the Qualifiers positively as they are in much better form that their visitors, who they have beaten in three of their last four meetings. Egypt also has a good home form having gone unbeaten in their last seven home games.
Guinea, on the other hand, have failed to win in their last four matches across all completions, and are coming off a 0-0 draw with South Africa back in March. They got eliminated from the last AFCOB edition by Gambia in the last 16 round, following a disappointing 1-0.
They will now look to put that behind them, and kickoff their qualification campaign on a high note as they seek a third consecutive appearance in the AFCON finals.
