Liberia will open their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers when they welcome Morocco to Stade Mohammed V on Monday night with kickoff at 22:00.
Liberia were supposed to open their qualifiers against Zimbabwe in Group K, but the encounter was cancelled as the Warriors were suspended from the competition after the country’s football federation was dissolved by the government.
Peter Butler’s side head into the fixture in a poor form having lost seven of their last eight matches across all competitions, with a 3-1 victory over CAF back in November being the only exception. They have conceded 15 goals while scored just five in return in that run. They will therefore need to be at their best on Monday if they are to get anything out of the clash.
Meanwhile, this will be the second qualifying fixture for Morocco, who opened the campaign positively with a 2-1 win over South Africa. Goals from Youssef En-Nesyri and Ayoub El Kaabi saw Morocco complete a comeback over the Bafana Bafana, and they now lead the group with three points.
They will be looking to extend their lead with another positive result on Monday and being in high spirits after the opening victory we are backing them to claim another one. They also have much better quality squad than their Monday hosts and should be a routine win here.
