Next week, reigning champions Algeria begin their AFCON 2021 qualifying campaign with a match against Sierra Leone at the Japoma Stadium with kickoff at 4 pm.
Algeria is a strong favorite to top Group E, joined by Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea. The North Africans recently won the FIFA Arab Cup and are among the front-runners heading into the World Cup.
Algeria has been undefeated in all matches since 2019, and they beat Ghana 3-0 in a friendly match earlier this month at the Education City Stadium.
Algeria and Sierra Leone are set to face off in their fourth match at the 2013 African Cup of Nations after each team won its first game in the group stage. The teams have also been evenly matched, with one win apiece and a draw.
In addition, Algeria scored at least three goals in seven of their nine games during the 2021 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and finished second in the second round as the top-scoring team.
Sierra Leone has only played two friendly games against Chad and Congo in the last six months. They are unlikely to defeat Algeria, a team that won the African Cup of Nations four years in a row.
