Wrexham host Grimsby Town at The Racecourse Ground in the National League playoffs semifinals on Saturday afternoon with kickoff at 14:30 EAT.
Wrexham made an impressive campaign in the National League this season with the side finishing seconds on 88 points from 44 games, six points behind leaders Stockport. Their position saw them claim a direct pass to the semifinals of the promotion playoffs and a home advantage.
However, Wrexham head into the match in poor form having won just one of their last four games across all competitions and are coming off back-to-back defeat to Dagenham (3-0) on the final day of National League and Bromley (1-0) in the FA Trophy final.
The however, boast a strong home form having now gone 18 games unbeaten at Racecourse Ground and they claimed a 1-0 victory over Grimsby last time the two met at the Ground in the National League. Therefore they should be confident heading into the clash.
Grimsby Town on the other hand, made an impressive campaign in the National League with the side finishing sixth on 77 points from 44 matches. Their position saw them book a place in the playoffs where they began in the quarterfinals, seeing out Notts County with a 2-1 victory in the extra time.
Grimsby have now won two of their last three matches in all competitions, while have lost just one of their last 12 games, claiming seven victories in the run. Considering the form Grimsby are in much better form that their opponents and thus we expect them to also fancy their chances on Saturday.
No doubt this will be a close encounter with both sides settings their eyes on the promotion to League Two next season, but we fancy the home team to use their home form and advantage to book a place in the final.
