Both Grimsby and Solihull Moors will be looking for a promotion from the Nation League when they clash at the London Stadium on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Grimsby will be looking an immediate bounce back to League Town while Solihull are attempting to reach the EFL for the first time in their history.
Grimsby were considered as outsiders to earn promotion, having finished down in sixth place during the regular season. However, Paul Hurst’s side has capitalized on their underdog status, knocking out Notts County and upsetting the initial favorites Wrexham.
The Mariners did really well against Wrexham, forcing a win the extra time after Luke Waterfall powered in his second header ending the game 5-4. On the back of that nine-goal thriller, and a good form of three wins in last four games, Grimsby should be buzzing with confidence ahead of the final.
However, they are going head to head with a side equally motivated for victory on Sunday. Solihull should not be regarded as the underdogs in the clash, as the club did well to finish fourth in the regular season and are a more fresh side with great form.
Unlike their upcoming opponents who have twice played 120 minutes to reach the final, Solihull were afforded a two-week break before their last-four showdown with Chesterfield. They dispatched Chesterfield with a 3-1 victory in the regular time, and they have now won each of their last six matches.
Therefore, Neal Ardley’s men will also fancy their chances on Saturday and wanting to play in EFL for the first time in their history should be motivation enough.
