West Ham and Leeds will take a break from their Premiere League action, when they clash in an interesting FA Cup tie at the London Stadium on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Both sides endured difficult periods in the Premier League after clashing with Chelsea with West Ham impressing against the Blues claiming a 3-2 win on the day, but after that West endured a poor string of results losing four of their five subsequent games across all competitions, which made David Moyes’ side to appear running out of steam.
However, the Hammers were able to snap from their slump with a resounding 4-1 win against Watford ending 2021 on a high note. They followed the win a hard fought 3-2 win against Crystal Palace last weekend opening 2022 on a high note. The two victories have helped them stay in the top four battle and will be looking to keep the momentum going as they need to stay in form if they are to keep in touch with the top four.
Meanwhile Leeds put on a good fight against Chelsea but lost the game 3-2 and could not build on their positives from the match as they were ripped apart in their subsequent matches suffering a 7-0 defeat to Manchester City at away before falling to a 4-1 defeat to Arsenal at home, but were depleted with injuries and still are.
Leeds however, also were able to put an end to their poor form with a much needed 3-1 win against Burnley, a win that saw them open the new year on a positive note and need to continue putting together wins to salvage their season.
The Whites will view the Sunday’s clash as confidence boosting opportunity ahead of their fixture against West Ham in their next Premier League fixture. With the side still depleted with injuries it will be interesting to see what Marcelo Bielsa puts out for this FA Cup encounter.
