Tranmere will start their EFL Trophy campaign this week when they welcome Bolton to Prenton Park on Tuesday night.
This will be the first game in the EFL-based competition for Tranmere, whereas Bolton have already recorded a 4-1 thumping win over Crewe Alexandra on the first matchday.
Tranmere have been struggling this season as they have won just three of their nine matches in League Two, drawing once while losing five matches in the process.
They are however coming off a narrow 1-0 away win over Salford, which ended their two-match losing streak. They will now be looking to build on the victory as they seek to get their EFL Trophy run off to a good start.
Meanwhile Bolton are coming off a 1-0 win over Peterborough in League One, which extend their winning streak to four matches across all competitions on the bounce.
They will now be looking to extend the run on Tuesday as they seek to keep Northern Group B lead. They however will need to play at the top of their game as they have lost their last two matches against Tranmere.
