Morecambe will welcome Hartlepool to Globe Arena for their round two tie in the Northern Group A of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
Morecambe have been struggling in League One so far this season as they have won just once in their opening nine matches and currently sit 23rd in the league standings, three points above Burton who are the bottom of the table.
However, they are coming off a 2-1 Forest Green at home in League One and they defeated Everton U21 after a penalty shootout in the EFL Trophy and currently sit second in the group with two points.
They will be looking to increase their chances of advancing with a positive result on Tuesday, but they will need to play at the top of their game to get something out of the tie.
Hartlepool meanwhile have made a poor campaign in League Two so far as they still remain winless after nine matches in the league. They have drawn four and lost five in the process and a result they sit in the relegation zone, just two points above rock-bottom Rochdale.
Hartlepool were beaten 2-0 at Sutton United last time out in League Two and taking a break from the division this midweek, they will be looking to build their confidence with a positive result against their League One hosts.
However, Hartlepool have not won any of their last 10 away matches and it seems they have a tough time at the Globe Arena. Hartlepool sit at the top of the Group A and they will be desperate to keep their spot after he Tuesday’s clash.
