Tottenham will make their return to the Champions League, after a two-year absence, when they welcome Marseille to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their Group D opener.
Tottenham did well to clinch a top-four finish pipping Arsenal to the fourth and final Champions League spot last season, and they will want to make it count when they start out on Wednesday.
The Lilywhites are in a tough group, Group D, which consists the likes of Marseille, Eintracht Frankfurt and Sporting Lisbon, therefore they can’t afford to take anything for granted and they will want to complement their brilliant unbeaten start to the Premier League with a win on Wednesday.
However, this is not a relatively easy game for Spurs as they face Marseille who are also unbeaten so far in Ligue 1. They have only drawn once in their six opening matches while winning all the remaining five matches, which include the last four in a row.
In that run they won at Nice 3-0 and 2-0 at Auxerre, showing that they are capable also getting the job done on the road. Marseille reached the semi-finals of the Conference League after finishing third in their Europa League group and will hope to go deep too this season in a European cup.
