Real Madrid will look to keep their 100% record in Group F of the Champions League when they welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.
Real Madrid were favorites to win the title before the competition began, and the reigning champions are among the frontrunners for the title, as they are already in a strong position to reach the last-16 stage of the competition.
They have won both of their opening Champions League matches in Group F, beating Celtic 3-0 at away on the opening night before edging RB Leipzig 2-0 at home on the second night. They sit top of the group on six points, two points above Shakhtar in second and five above Celtic in third.
A win on Wednesday will see them widen their lead to five points something they will want to see through. They are unbeaten in their last 12 matches across all competitions and have not lost their last eight encounters at Santiago Bernabeu. They have also won four of their last six meetings with Shakhtar and therefore they should be confident of maintaining their momentum on Wednesday night.
Shakhtar Donetsk, on the other hand, have made impressive starts to their league and European campaigns this season, as they remain unbeaten in their seven competitive matches so far in two competitions.
They have win four and drawn one of their opening league matches and currently sit top of the Ukrainian Premier League, while have drawn one and won one of their two champions League fixtures and sit second in Group F.
They opened the shocking 4-1 away win over RB Leipzig, before holding Celtic to a 1-1 draw at home. They are two points behind Madrid, three points above Celtic and four above Leipzig, therefore three points in this fixture will see them climb top of the group, increasing their chances of advancing to the knockout places.
It will hard to take points off Real Madrid though, but they are still in a good position for advancing and a draw will be good result on Wednesday.
