Sevilla will host Borussia Dortmund at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in their Champions League Matchday Three tie in Group G on Wednesday night.
Sevilla have had a difficult start to both their La Liga and Champions League campaigns this season as they have only won once in seven league matches, drawing two and losing four and they currently sit one place and one point above the relegation zone.
Meanwhile they are still searching for their first win in the Champions League after two fixtures. They lost 4-0 at home to Man City on the opening day, before drawing 0-0 with Copenhagen at away in the second tie. They now sit at the bottom of Group G, level on one point with third-placed Copenhagen and two behind Dortmund in second.
They need to start picking up wins in the group if they are going to stand a chance of advancing to the knockout stages. A win on Wednesday could leave them second while a defeat will leave them in a more difficult spot to challenge for the top places.
Borussia Dortmund on the other hand have been somewhat inconsistent this season, but they have done much better than their opponents. Dortmund sit fourth in Bundesliga on 15 points from eight matches, two points off the summit and level on points with their main rivals Bayern Munich who sit third.
in Champions League they have won one and lost one in their opening two fixtures, with the win coming at Copenhagen (3-0) and the defeat suffered to Man City (2-1) at away. They are three points behind City in the group and they will want to maintain their position with a victory on Wednesday.
They are however coming off 3-2 away defeat to FC Cologne in Bundesliga and will need to make amends before the Wednesday’s clash.
