Swansea will be looking to get their season back on track when host a Premier League outfit, Southampton, in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday night with kickoff at 20:30.
Swansea City have made an inconsistent Championship campaign this season with the club claiming 27 points from their 22 league matches and currently sit in the 17th spot with eight points above the relegation zone.
They head into the match in a poor form having won just one of their last six matches in the Championship, drawing one and suffering four defeats in the run. They are coming off a three match losing streak against Reading, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest.
However, Swansea should be well rested having not played since they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Nottingham on December 11th. They therefore be keen to knock out a top-flight outfit in the FA Cup to boost their confidence for when their return to their league action.
They will also be looking to build on their fifth-round finish in the FA Cup last season and it will be a positive step for them to repeat that this season.
Meanwhile Southampton have also been on and off this season in the Premier League with the side collecting 21 points from their 19 top flight matches and currently sit in 14th with 11 points above the relegation zone.
They have also not been a good form as they have only won in their last eight Premier League matches. However Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have been realized a significant improvement as of late with the side recording a draw against Crystal Palace before following that with a 3-2 win against West Ham and 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Saints will shift their focus to the FA Cup where they will be looking to build on their impressive run last season which saw go as further as the semi-finals where they were defeated 1-0 by the eventual winners Leicester City and they will be hoping to go a step further this season.
