Stockport and Wolves U21 will face off at the Edgeley Park in their second Northern Group C tie of the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.
The two had contrasting starts to the campaign in Group C with Stockport opening the EFL Trophy campaign on the back foot as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Port Vale and as result they sit at the bottom of the group with zero points.
Meanwhile, Wolves U21 opened their EFL Trophy campaign positively as they claimed a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury and as result they sit at the top of the Northern Group C, jointly on three points with Port Vale.
Therefore both sides will be fighting for maximum points in this clash for different reasons, with Stockport looking for their first points of the competition and they also want maintain the gap between them and the top two for now. Meanwhile, Wolves U21 will be looking to maintain their positive start to the competition and hopefully maintain their lead in Group C.
Both sides have not been at their best recently and are both coming off draws, with the hosts drawing 0-0 with Harrogate at home, while the visitors drew 1-1 with Arsenal U21 at away. Therefore both will be looking to return to winning ways although Wolves U21 have a better form than their hosts, but the hosts are tough side to beat at home and thus both need to bring their A-games into the Tuesday’s clash.
