Sheriff Tiraspol and Zrinjski Mostar will be looking to book a place in the second round of the Champions League qualifiers when they lock horns at Sheriff Stadium in the second leg of their first-round tie on Tuesday night.
The two played out a goalless draw in the first leg of this fixture last week, and they both have not be in action since the encounters. Their respective domestic league campaigns are yet to commence and therefore this fixtures are part of their pre-season, but they are crucial matches as a spot in Champions League group stage is on the line.
Tiraspol who had a good showing in their debut campaign in the Champions League group stage last season will be hoping to make it back-to-back appearances in the competition this season, and thus will be desperate for a win to progress to next round.
Tiraspol were yet to play a single match before the first leg since May when they claimed a 1-0 win against Sfintul G in the final of the Cupa Moldova. Therefore, they will be seeking a similar result on Tuesday and with a home advantage they should fancy their chances.
Meanwhile Zrinjski Mostar who have not been involved in the Champions League qualifies since the 2018/19 season will be looking go through to the group stage of the competition with a win on Tuesday.
Zrinjski were a bit up to speed in the first leg as they had played four friendly matches leading to the tie, claiming two wins and two draws in the run. They have now extended their unbeaten run to 25 matches across all competitions stretching back to last season and will be desperate to extend the run on Tuesday as they look to progress.
However, they have only managed two wins in their 13 Champions League matches ever played, which is an indication of the size of their task this year and will need to be absolutely at their best to overcome Tiraspol at home.
