Shamrock Rovers and Ludogorets will go head to head at the Tallaght Stadium in the second leg of their Champions League second qualifying round on Tuesday night.
Shamrock have their work cut for them as they head into the second leg on the back foot after suffering a 3-0 defeat in the first leg last week. They did well to knock out Hibernians in the first round with a 3-0 win on aggregate, but they are mostly likely to continue their European qualification in the Europa League in the next round.
Stephen Bradley’s side, who have won their domestic title on 19 occasions, will enter this contest off the back of a 1-1 draw with Drogheda United in the league on Saturday, which has left them top of the Ireland Premier Division table, seven points clear of second-placed Dundalk on the same number of games.
The Hoops will therefore be desperate to bounce back on Tuesday, although it will take some effort to overcome a three-goal deficit.
Ludogorets, meanwhile, proved their worth in the first leg and now they are just a draw away to making it to the next round of the qualifiers. They were the clear favorites in that first leg and they lived up to their expectations and will be hoping to complete a double over Shamroch just as they did in the first round against Sutjeska Niksic.
They were also involved in a domestic fixture last weekend, picking up a 2-2 draw against CSKA 1948, extending their unbeaten run to seven matches across all competitions, but ending their six-match winning streak and thus will be looking to return to winning ways on Tuesday.
