Chesterfield will be travelling to the Peninsula Stadium on Sunday to face Salford City who will be seeking to reach the FA Cup third round for the very first time in their history.
The hosts will be hoping to a step better than last season after exiting at this stage when they lost to Newport County, while Chesterfield failed to qualify for the cup in 2020-21.
Salford fell to a 3-0 defeat to Newport back in November 2020, but they once more have the chance of reaching the dream third round they have failed to grasp in recent years.
The Ammies had already beaten Dagenham & Redbridge back in round one, and they will be expected to do the same on Sunday with the view of earning a tie in the next round.
The 1-0 victory over Dagenham in the beginning of November was the second among a current six-game undefeated run for Salford in all competitions. That has been followed by only one win in six matches during a poor start to the League Two campaign.
However, they have recently had an upward turn of luck, with a 2-0 victory over Oldham Athletic last weekend being the most recent of the impressive results, moving into the 11th spot.
Meanwhile, Chesterfield are on good run of form heading into this match, despite being one division lower in the English Football League hiererchy.
The Spireites have had a 10-match unbeaten run across all competition that saw them rise to the peak of the National League, in the campaign to return to League Two.
With just one defeat under James Rowe all season, Chesterfield head to The Peninsula Stadium full of confidence.
Following a disappointing 4-0 loss to Stockport County in the fourth qualifying round in the 2020-21 campaign, Chesterfield turned the same scoreline back in their favour this time, when they comfortably defeated Curzon Ashton at the same stage.
