Roma vs Leicester City Match Analysis and Prediction

Roma and Leicester City face off in the second leg of their Europa League Conference League tie at Stadio Olimpico on Thursday night with kickoff at 22:00 EAT.

The second leg is well poised after the 1-1 draw at King Power last week, where Pellegrini opened the scores for Roma in the 15th minute before Mancini levelled the scores in the 67th minute through an own goal.

The two now face in in what is expected to be another close encounter, but a home advantage for Roma is absolutely vital in this encounter and we expect Jose Mourinho’s side to fancy their chances. Mourinho rested several of his first team regulars in a goalless draw against Bologna a result that saw them drop into sixth place in Serie A standings.

The Portuguese is now expected his strongest side and with the Conference League being their only chance of silverware this season, they will be feeling quietly confident about booking their place in the inaugural final.

Meanwhile the Foxes have made an inconsistent season in the Premier League and they have failed to keep pace in the fight for European qualification. They were slammed with a 3-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur at away last weekend with Harry Kane and Son Hueng-min getting the goals for the Lilywhites, while Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the consolation goal for the Foxes.

There are now 11th in the Premier League standings and have very slim chance of finishing in the European spots this season as 10 points separate them with the seventh-placed West Ham, although the Foxes have played two games less.

They however still have hopes of Europa League football next season, which could be achieved by winning the Europa Conference League trophy. Therefore its clearly and understandably for Brendan Rodgers’s side to facus on the competition, although a trip to the Eternal City will provide a big test of their mettle.
