Roma will be hosting Serie B outfit Lecee at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday evening as they meet in the final round of 16 game of the Coppa Italia.
Lecce are currently sitting fifth in Serie B but have already taken on Serie A side Spezia in this competition, while the hosts will take part in their first cup game of the season.
Roma recovered from their late crumbling against Juventus, where they lost a two-goal lead to finally lose 4-3 on the home soil, with a narrow victory over Cagliari at the weekend.
New signing Sergio Oliveira scored from the penalty spot at the 33rd minute, which was enough to secure all the three points.
The Giallorossi are currently sitting seventh in the Serie A standings, level on points with Fiorentina in sixth, but with a six-point gap to Juventus in the Europa League spot.
Jose Mourinho’s side will now leave behind their league troubles and turn their focus to the Coppa Italia, where they were eliminated at this stage last year by Spezia Calcio.
Their last victory in the competition came way back in 2008, with Roma having lost two finals in the intervening years, but they should add effort to improve their current form, before they think about proceeding in the competition and lifting the trophy this season.
Meanwhile, Lecce are currently on a great run of form, winning four of their last five matches in all competitions.
They have also lost just one match since August, which has seen them rise to fifth in the table, just one point adrift of third and four points from the leaders.
Despite that performance being in Serie B, the Yellow and Reds have shown their capability to defend themselves against Serie A sides, having eliminated Spezia in the previous round.
