Real Madrid vs Chelsea match Analysis and Prediction

Real Madrid will host Chelsea at Santiago Bernabeu in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday night with kickoff at 22:00 EAT.

Real Madrid have been right on the money this season with some strong performances across all competitions, and cruised to an emphatic 3-1 victory in the first leg tie at Stamford Bridge last week Wednesday. Los Blancos’ talisman Karim Benzema was at it again as he bagged another excellent hat-trick in the Champions League to give his side an advantage going into the second leg. Benzema had previous stunned PSG with a hat-trick in the second leg of the last to send the Ligue 1 giants parking with 3-2 victory on aggregate.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side warmed up for the Tuesday’s clash with a 2-0 victory against Getafe in La Liga, and have now lost just one of their last 11 league matches, claiming eight victories in the run. They currently lead La Liga with 12 points above the second-placed Barcelona.

They have led a similar campaign in the Champions League as they have now lost just two of their nine matches in the competition and the victory over PSG made them one of the strong favorites to lift the trophy. Los Blancos were knocked out by Chelsea in semi-finals last season and will be looking to return the favor.

Meanwhile Kai Havertz scored the consolation goal for Chelsea in the first leg to save face for the reigning champions. Things haven’t really gone their way both inside and outside, mostly outside, of the field this season and they sit third in the Premier League with 12 points off the summit.

They have also struggled in the Champions League as they finished second in the group stage and they now head to Madrid two goals behind. They however, warmed-up for the clash in an emphatic manner as they stunned Southampton with a 6-1 thumping victory on the weekend at St Mary’s.

They have now won their last seventh win on the road across all competitions, and have only failed to score in one of their last 15 Champions League games at away. They will therefore draw confidence from that as they look to stage a comeback here, although it will take something special to overturn tables at Bernabeu.
