Both Rapid Vienna and Vitesse Arnhem will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face off at the Allianz Stadion in the first leg of the Europa Conference league knockout playoffs on Thursday night with kickoff at 20:45.
Rapid Vienna failed to progress to the knockout stages of the Europa League after finishing third behind West Ham and Dinamo Zagreb in Group H and thus were transferred to the conference League, where they start in the knockout playoffs and will be hoping to advance to the knockout stages of the this competition.
They are coming off back-to-back defeats in their local campaigns with the defeats ending their four-match winning streak across all competitions. they will therefore be looking to bounce back in this match as they aim at advancing to next stage of the competition while also gaining confidence and momentum they need to stay up in the championship qualification places in Austrian Bundesliga.
Meanwhile Vitesse started their Europa Conference campaign in the group stage where they managed to claim 10 points from six Group G matches to finish second, four points behind Rennes and thus securing a place against Vienna on Thursday, and will be hoping to advance to the last 16 of the tournament.
The Vitas however, head into the match in poor form having lost all their last four matches across all competitions, conceding 16 goals while scoring just one in the process. The run showcases their problems at both ends of the pitch and Thomas Letsch has a lot to do if his side are going to extend their life in the competition.
