Round 32 of the 2023-24 Eredivisie season concludes with an encounter between SBV Excelsior and NEC Nijmegen at Van Donge & De Roo Stadion on Monday night.
Excelsior played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Ajax when the sides met at the Johan Crujff Arena on Wednesday night.
After going behind to Devyne Rensch’s opener just shy of the half-hour mark, Marinus Dijkhuizen’s side turned the game around through goals either side of halftime from Julian Baas and Lazaros Lamprou before Chuba Akpom equalised in the final minute of regulation time.
Consequently, Excelsior remain in 15th position in the Eredivisie standings, just one point above the relegation playoff spot heading into the final stages of the campaign.
Having recently ended a six-game winless home run, De Roodzwarten now go in search of successive victories on their own patch for the first time in over a year.
Meanwhile, NEC were on the receiving end of a second straight defeat as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to AZ Alkmaar at Stadion de Goffert on Sunday.
The Eniesee trailed to Dani de Wit’s opener before second-half strikes from Vangelis Pavlidis and Ernest Poku put the result beyond doubt.
With 47 points picked up from 31 matches so far, Rogier Meijer’s side six sixth in the league standings, two behind Ajax in the battle for Europa League qualification.
