Both Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland will be looking to get over their weekend’s disappointments when they lock horns at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium on Tuesday in a quest for the quarter finals of the EFL Cup, with kickoff at 21:45.
The two sides have been wildly inconsistent this season in their respective campaigns with both showing promising signs of mounting wins and have both slumped hard when the pressure was on. QPR were in the fifth spot and were on a good run in the Championship collecting three wins from their last four matches but slumped on the weekend where they threw away their 1-0 second-half lead to lose 2-1 to relegation-threatened Peterborough at the ABAX Stadium. The defeat saw the Hoops drop to the seventh spot in the Championship rankings and will need to focus on their form if there are to keep their promotions hopes alive.
Meanwhile Sunderland were in the second place and were finally looking ready to win a promotion as they had won two matches on the bounce to keep near the top but Black Cats threw it away in their disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Charlton Athletic on weekend. The defeat saw them drop to the fourth spot with two points away from the top in League One standings.
However, both sides will be confident heading into in the match as QPR have a good home form as they have won in all their last four home matches while Sunderland have a three-match winning streak away from home and there are the only League One side still in the competition.
