Port Vale vs Fleetwood Town Match Analysis & Prediction
27/02/2024 10:45 pm
Two relegation rivals will go head to head when Port Vale play host to Fleetwood Town at Vale Park for Tuesday night’s League One match.
The Valiants are currently languishing in 22nd position and three points adrift of safety, while the Cod Army are four points worse off in 23rd place.
Darren Moore is still waiting for his first points as Port Vale manager after beginning his tenure with three successive defeats.
Port Vale lost back-to-back away matches against Cheltenham Town and Reading, before they suffered a 2-0 defeat in Saturday’s home encounter with Lincoln City, extending their winless run to nine league matches.
Having conceded two goals in at least one of their last four matches, the Valiants will need to offer an improved display in the defensive third.
They will also be keen to discover a cutting edge after failing to score in three of their previous four home matches, but they can take confidence from the fact that they have already beaten Fleetwood at Vale Park this season, claiming a 3-2 victory in a League Cup tie in August.
Fleetwood will also be desperate to secure all three points after failing to win any of their last four matches since claiming successive victories over Port Vale and Bristol Rovers.
The Cod Army at least salvaged a point from Saturday’s away match against Exeter City, with Promise Omochere scoring a 74th-minute equaliser to cancel out Vincent Harper’s first-half opener.
Despite adding a point to their tally, Fleetwood have a mountain to climb if they are to extend their 10-year stay in League One, with the club sitting seven points adrift of safety.
Having leaked 56 league goals, Charlie Adam’s side currently have the second-worst defensive record in the division, highlighting one of the key factors behind their struggles this season.
Port Vale vs. Fleetwood Town Head to head
In the 16 previous meetings between these two teams, Port Vale have claimed seven victories while Fleetwood have won six, and they have drawn in three. They have each claimed 20 victories in the process.
