Freddie Ladapo scored the opening goal in the 11th minute before Marcus Harness wrapped up three points with a second-half strike.
Ipswich remains in the second position but will put their promotion push on hold as they turn their attention to the EFL Trophy.

Having already beaten Portsmouth 3-2 at home earlier in the season, Ipswich will be confident of progressing to the third round of the competition.
Portsmouth is unbeaten in seven matches across all competitions, but they would have been disappointed to drop out of the League One playoff places at the weekend.
Pompey drew 0-0 at home with Derby County on Friday, leaving them with four consecutive league draws.
Despite struggling to convert draws into victories, Danny Cowley’s side has won two of their previous three competitive away games, giving them confidence ahead of Tuesday’s contest.
They have yet to lose an EFL Trophy game in 90 minutes this season, though they finished second in their group after picking up six points from three matches.
