Cagliari will host Bari at the Sardegna Arena in the first leg of the Serie B play-offs final on Thursday night
Cagliari booked their place in the final after seeing out Parma with a 3-2 victory on aggregate. The 3-2 victory came in the first leg though as they drew 0-0 last Sunday in the second leg. They will now be looking to use the home advantage to get to get one leg inside Serie A in the opening leg of the final.
They have been in a solid form recently winning six of their last seven games and are also in a brilliant home form. They have won all their last four games at home and have beaten Bari in five of their last six meetings at Sardegna Arena. They are therefore expected to have the upper hand in the first leg.
Bari were held to 1-1 draw on aggregate by Sudtirol in their semifinal, but progressed to the final having secured a third-place finish in Serie B during the regular season. They gained promotion from Serie C just last season and are hopeful of making Serie A for the first time since their restructuring in 2018.
Bari are responsible for one of Cagliri’s only two home defeats this season and will be will look to draw confidence from the 1-0 win, but considering what is on the line, the hosts will be more vigilant.
