Benfica take on Boavista in the first semi-final fixture of the Taca de Liga in Portugal at the Estadio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica on Tuesday night with kickoff at 22:00.
Benfica secure their place in the semifinals after claiming the top spot on Group A, where they started their campaign claiming four points from two group matches. They opened with a 3-3 draw against Victoria SC, before closing with a 3-0 win over SC Covilha, with their +3 goal difference helping them to win the group.
Aguias head into the match in a good form having lost none of their last three Primeira Liga matches claiming two victories and a draw in the run and are now third in the league standings.
Taking a break from the Primeira Liga action Nelson Verissimo’s side will look to keep the ball rolling as they aim at building momentum for title race and most importantly make it to the Taca de Liga final.
Meanwhile Boavista started their Taca de Portugal campaign in the second round where they knocked out Portimonense with a 2-0 victory. They proceeded to knockout Pacoa Ferreira and Braga in the group stage, claiming six points from the two matches in Group C.
They head into the match in a good form having lost none of their last six matches across all competitions, picking up two wins and four draws in the run. They are coming off the back of four consecutive 1-1 draws in the Primeira Liga, where they currently sit in the 11th spot on 19 points.
Os Axadrezados will be looking to their fine run going as they aim at booking a place in the finals but they face a stern test of taking on Benfica who they have only won against in two of their last 15 meetings. Also Boavista have not against Benfica in their last 14 encounters with Benfica playing at home.
