Mafra vs FC Porto Match Analysis and Prediction

Mafra will be looking for a third consecutive victory for the first time since November 2021 when they play host to FC Porto at the Estadio Municipal de Mafra in round four of the Taca de Portugal on Tuesday.

The visitors, who kicked off their dup defence with a 6-0 victory over Anadia on October 16, are unbeaten in six straight away matches and will look to keep the juggernaut rolling.

Mafra put on a fine show of fighting as they came from behing to claim a 3-2 home victory over Covilha when the sides met in the Segunda Liga last Friday.

Ricardo Sousa’s side had previously ended their run of two matches without a win on October 29, when they picked up a narrow 1-0 victory at Torreense through a stoppage-time winner from Loide Augusto.

They will now look to carry on their new-found form into the Taca de Portugal, where they claimed a third-round 4-2 victory over Primeira Liga side Maritimo two weeks after defeating UD Santarem in their cup opener on October 2.

Meanwhile, Porto returned to winning ways in the Primeira Liga as they beat Pacos de Ferreira 4-0 at the Estadio do Dragao on Saturday.

Prior to that, Dragao were on a two-game winless run in the league, losing 1-0 to Benfica on October 21 to see their five-game unbeaten run come to an end, before being held to a disappointing draw by Santa Clara one week later.

Sergio Conceicao’s side, who are currently second in the Primeira Liga standings with 26 points from 12 matches, now turn their attention to the Taca de Portugal, where they secured their 18th title through a 3-1 victory over Tondela in last season’s final on May 22. They will be looking to pick up where they dropped off in October’s cup opener.

Mafra news

We expect Sousa to name an unchanged back three of Pedro Pacheco, Ousmane Diomande and Joao Goulart, who started both victories over Torreense and Covilha.

Enca Fati, Leo Cordeiro, Guilherme and Leandrinho should retain their spots at the centre of the pitch, with Lucas Rodrigues and Pedro Lucas as the attacking duo.

FC Porto news

Porto will be without the services of defender Pepe, who has been sidelined since picking up an ankle injury in the Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen on October 4.

David Carmo and Bruno Costa could potentially pair at the heart of the defence, while Toni Martinez could start in attack.

Prediction and Odds

Mafra have put together a fine run of form in recent weeks and will look to cause an upset over the top tier giants on Tuesday.

However, given the gulf in quality and experience between the two sides, we are backing Porto to come out on top and take away all three points.
