Relegation-threatened Samsunspor will be looking to move out of the drop zone with a win over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Christmas Day.
Alanyaspor were in the league’s bottom four spots a few weeks back, but two victories in as many matches have catapulted them to 15th in the standings heading into Monday’s game.
Fatih Tekke’s side have built on a 2-2 draw against Konyaspor to start this month, with that point followed by three victories across all competitions, including a 1-0 win over Istanbulspor and a surprise 3-1 success against Betiktas in their most recent game.
Samsunspor share an identical record of seven points from an available nine with their hosts but remain in 18th, although three points from escaping the bottom four spots.
The Red Lightning could only play out a goalless draw in Markus Gisdol’s first game at Istanbul Basaksehir, but the club have won five of nine across all competitions, losing just three times in two months.
They were on a three-game winning run across all competitions until the league hiatus slowed their momentum in the lead-up to Thursday’s draw with Konyaspor.
