Porto and Atletico Madrid go head to head in a fight for a second-place finish in Group B of the Champions League at Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday night with kickoff at 23:00.
This has been a difficult group consisting of heavyweights like, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and FC Porto. Liverpool, though, has been dominant conquering all the other three in their last five matches, leaving the three clubs to have to take and share points amongst themselves.
Porto have managed to collect five points from their five matches having picked up one win, two draws and two defeats in process. They opened with a goalless draw against Atletico Madrid before losing 5-1 to Liverpool. They then claimed a 1-0 success and 1-1 draw against Milan before losing 2-0 to Liverpool last time out. Porto currently sit in the second-place in Group B, 10 points behind Liverpool and just one point above Milan and Atletico.
Atletico Madrid meanwhile, have not fared much better than their hosts as the La Liga outfits sit rock-bottom in the group with four points from five games. They are level on point with the third placed Milan who have superior goal difference. After drawing 0-0 with Porto and beating AC Milan 2-1 in their first and second group matches, Atletico have gone on a three-match losing streak, yielding 3-2 and 2-0 to Liverpool before going down 1-0 to Milan last time out.
Now with AC Milan facing the all-conquering Liverpool in the other last Group B match, Porto and Atletico Madrid will go into this fixture with some certainty of winner-takes all. A win on Tuesday for Porto will guarantee them a place in the knockout stage, while a win for Atletico will put them in a strong position to qualify.
Therefore this will be a close affair as both sides will have to be tight and we are not going to see many goals in this one.
