The New York Red Bulls will be looking to avoid a fifth straight MLS game without a win when they host DC United on Sunday with kickoff at 2 am.
The New York Red Bulls returned to winning ways in the MLS Cup when they secured a 3-1 last-16 win at home to Charlotte FC on Thursday night.
Patryk Klimala opened the scoring for Gerhard Struber’s side just two minutes in, but Daniel Rios drew his side level six minutes later. Dylan Nealis put the Red Bulls back in front just after the hour mark, and Tom Barlow wrapped up all three points by adding a third in stoppage time. The Red Bulls will now turn their attention to Sunday’s MLS clash with DC United as they bid to close in on Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia.
DC United have lost their last three matches in the MLS as they played out a 2-2 draw with Toronto FC last weekend, with Edison Flores and Michael Estrada scoring for the hosts. Jonathan Osorio scored an 89th-minute equalizer to force both sides to share the spoils.
The Black and Red are 11th in the Eastern Conference, three points above basement club Chicago Fire and two points behind the playoffs.
