Malmo vs Chelsea Match Analysis and prediction

Malmo are still in search of their first point in Group H of the UEFA Champions League after three matches and the search continues when they welcome Chelsea to the Eleda Stadion on Tuesday with kickoff at 20:45.

Malmo opened their Champions League campaign in the first round of the qualifiers traversing some tricky ties in the preliminary process knocking out Riga, HJK Helsinki, Rangers and Ludogorets to reach the group stage.

However, Malmo could not build on their qualifying run as Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side have won or drawn none of their group stage matches so far conceding 11 goals while scoring non in the opening three matches as they have lost 3-0 Juventus, 4-0 to Zenit and another 4-0 to Chelsea in their reverse fixture last time out.

Di Blae are now stuck at the bottom of the group with Zenit being above them in the fourth on three points and will need to start picking up points if there are to salvage their campaign or perhaps drop to the Europa League with a third-placed finish.

Malmo head into the match on the back of a confidence boosting 3-2 win over Sirius in their domestic campaign where they are at the top of the standings with 51 points. Malmo are also in a good form having just lost one and drawn one of their last six matches across all competitions and although Chelsea will be too strong for them Malmo will need to put their home advantage to good use here.

Meanwhile Chelsea begun their Champions League title defence with a 1-0 win against Zenit St Petersburg, then succumbed to 1-0 defeat to Juventus in their second match before taking a significant step towards the knockout stage with the 4-0 win against Malmo in early September.

The Blues are now in the second spot on six points in Group H, three points behind the leaders Juventus and three above third-placed Zenit hence this fixture is crucial for Chelsea who will be looking to seal their top-two finish.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have been strong in their domestic campaign and head into the match on the back of a routine 3-0 win over Newcastle United and prior to that Chelsea had run riot in the 7-0 win against Norwich City. They currently head the Premier League with three points adrift-off second-placed Liverpool.

The Blues head into the contest in a brilliant form as they have won all their last six matches across all competitions and considering their form and squad Chelsea should be in for another routine win here.
