Juventus vs Sassuolo Match Analysis and Prediction

Juventus have found the Scudetto apparently being out of reach and European glory a long shot, and they now continue their quest for silverware on Thursday, as they host Sassuolo in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

The cup holders have improved to enter top four in Serie A after Sunday’s victory over Verona, though their sluggish start to the season included a shock home loss to Sassuolo back in October.

Juventus kicked off their Coppa Italia defence with a 4-1 victory over Sampdoria last month, and they are now just two steps away from the final and return to the competition amid some fine league form.

The victory at the weekend helped them leapfrog Atalanta in the top-four race, and they also won eight of their last 12 matches since the start of December.

If they are to play in the semi-finals against either Atalanta or Fiorentina next month, Juventus must first overcome a side that stunned them with a late goal at the Allianz Stadium earlier this season in a 2-1 loss.

Meanwhile, Sassuolo went down to a 4-0 defeat away at Sampdoria, with Neroverdi old boys Francesco Caputo and Stefano Sensi among the scorers at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

They still sit in a comfortable mid-table position in Serie A despite a series of results that includes just two wins from their last eight league and cup games, one of which was the last-16 victory over Cagliari.

Despite Caputo’s and Jeremie Boga’s departures, Alessio Dionisi still has talented attacking trio at his disposal.

Sassuolo have never before lifted the Coppa Italia, and they will be aiming to repeat the unlikely events of their last enconter with I Bianconeri, but to overcome Juventus on their own turf fro a second time this season means they remain distant outsiders for the trophy.

Juventus news

Max Allegri is likely to make alterations form the side which defeated Verona on Sunday, but should still name a strong starting XI, which could again include Dusan Vlahovic.

However, Moise Kean is an option as he competes with Alvaro Morata to lead the line, with Paulo Dybala also likely to feature.

Sassuolo news

Sassuolo are expected to keep a more settled side despite defeat at the weekend, but French forward Gregoire Defrel is contending to force his way into the front line.

Full-back Rogerio returns after missing out against Sampdoria through suspension, but Filip Djuricic remains out due to a long-term hamstring problem.

Prediction and Odds

Sassuolo will be meeting Juventus in a Coppa Italia tie for the first time ever, but with their defensive frailties they could not be able to cause an upset here.

We excpect Juve to view this as a good opportunity to advance to the semis and we back them to win the game.
