Gent and Djurgarden will battle for the top place in Group F of the UEFA Europa Conference League when they lock horns in round three at the Ghelamco Arena on Thursday night.
Both sides have made good starts to the Conference League in Group F as both have picked four points from their opening two matches. They both drew on the opening night and won on the second night, with Gent drawing 0-0 with Molde before beating Shamrock 3-0, while Djurgarden drew 0-0 with Shamrock before beating Molde 3-2.
Now both side sit level on four points at the summit of the table, but Gent lead with a goal-difference. Therefore a win for either side will leave them top of the group, which will increase their chances of finishing top and securing an automatic qualification to the last 16 of the competition.
Both sides are coming off defeats in their domestic leagues, with Gent losing back-to-back Belgian Pro League matches to Genk (1-0) and Cercle Brugge (3-4), while Djurgarden lost 3-0 to Degerfors in the Swedish Allsvenskan.
Therefore both have much to amend of the fixture and we expect a closely contested encounter as both sides are seem to be evenly matched, and also the occasion requires both sides to be at the top of the game.
