Coppa Italia round two continues on Wednesday night when Serie A top four contenders Fiorentina faces Serie B promotion contenders Benevento at the Stadio Artemio Franchi with kickoff at 23:00.
Both sides have made impressive campaigns in their respective divisions with Fiorentina claiming 10 wins from their 17 Serie A matches while they are yet to post any draws and have suffered defeats in the process. They currently sit in the fifth spot on 30 points in the top-flight standings with six points behind the struggling Napoli.
They head into the match in a good form having only lost in two of their last six Serie A matches and are coming off a three-match winning streak over Sampdoria, Bologna and Salernitana, scoring 10 goals while conceding just three in the streak. They are also in brilliant home form as they have won all their last five home matches in a row.
Viola were knocked out of the Coppa Italia in the round of 16 last season by Inter Milan in a 2-1 defeat. They will be looking to go further in the competition this time around and thus, will be in for a win here. Vincenzo Italiano’s men will fancy their chances as they have only lost in one of their last four meetings against their second tier opponents and Dusan Vlahovic will be expected to cause the visitors plenty of trouble.
Meanwhile Benevento have claimed nine wins, four draws and four defeats in their 17 Serie B matches, collecting 31 points which have them sitting in the fourth spot, level with the third placed Lecce while just four points behind league leaders Pisa.
Benevento head into the match in a good form having also just lost two of their last six matches in Serie B and are coming off a fourth-match winning streak, where they scored 11 goals while conceding four and produced two clean sheets.
The visitors made it to the second round of the Coppa Italia after beating Spal 2-1 at home in the first round of the competition back in August and they will be hoping to extend their cup run when they face Fiorentina on Wednesday.
