FC Midtjylland will face a tough challenge when they host Feyenoord at the MCH Arena on Thursday night in game week three of the 2022-23 Europa League campaign with kickoff at 10 pm.
Having lost 4-2 to Lazio in their first group stage match, Feyenoord got their Europa League campaign off to a good start with a 6-0 thrashing of Sturm Graz.
Since then, Arne Slot’s side has suffered two league defeats—4-3 versus Feyenoord and 1-1 against NEC Nijmegen—leaving the Rotterdam club in fourth place in the Eredivisie table, three points behind league leaders AZ Alkmaar.
With three points on offer against Thursday’s guests at De Kuip Stadium, Feyenoord will be keen to return to winning ways away from home as they look to climb up the Group F standings.
FC Midtjylland and Viborg FF played a 1-1 draw in front of their home fans on Sunday afternoon. Albert Capellas’ side went behind to Jay-Roy Grot’s opener in the 42nd minute before drawing level through Kristoffer Olsson barely 90 seconds later.
This came from wins against Copenhagen and Lazio, the latter of which was ecured in grand style courtesy of a 5-1 thrashing.
Unbeaten in three straight matches at home following losses in four straight games before that, Thursday’s hosts look to continue their upturn in form with another victory over visiting opponents.
