When they play host to Austin FC at the Saputo Stadium on Sunday, CF Montreal will be aiming to pick up a third league win in a row with kickoff at 2:30 am.
On May 29, Montreal came out on top in a 4-3 thriller against FC Cincinnati. After going behind Junior Moreno’s opener, Wilfried Nancy’s men raced to a 3-1 lead thanks to goals from Joel Waterman, Romell Quioto, and Mathieu Choiniere before Quioto added a second just shy of the hour mark to render strikes from Alvaro Barreal and the Moreno above inconsequential.
The Impact sits third in the Eastern Conference, three points shy of league leaders New York City FC, albeit having played an extra game. Their next task is the first-ever meeting against an Austin side in only their second season in the top tier of American football.
On Sunday, Austin FC fell 4-1 against Mexican outfit Pachuca in a friendly match at the Q2 Stadium in Texas.
Roberto de la Rosa, Nicolas Ibanez, Gustavo Cabral, and Jesus Hernandez scored for Los Tuzos en route to a convincing first-half performance before Sebastian Driussi netted a consolation goal for Josh Wolff’s men after the break.
Before that loss, however, Los Zanates were beaten convincingly by Los Angeles Galaxy in an MLS match but currently occupy the fourth spot in the Western Conference standings.

Austin Tem News
Forward Diego Fagundez has scored in his last two away games, so he’ll be looking to come up trumps again for Austin FC. Top scorer Sebastian Driussi is just one yellow card away from getting a one-game suspension.
