Cardiff City are set host fellow Championship outfit Preston North End at the Cardiff City Stadium in the third-round of the FA Cup on Sunday evening with kickoff at 17:00.
Cardiff had a difficult Championship campaign this season with the club claiming 23 points from their 24 league matches and currently sit just two places and four points above the relegation zone and head into the match on back of a four-match winless run.
However, Steve Morison’s side will take plenty of positives form their last league match where they held West Bromwich to a 1-1 draw at away in their 2022 opening match, which has kept things ticking over.
Now they will shift to the FA Cup tie against a confident Preston North End, but Cardiff will fancy their chances in the match as they have not won in all their last four meetings against their opposition and a win on Saturday will help in boosting their confidence they need to salvage their season.
Preston North End were on and off this season under Frankie McAvoy, but seem to be finding their stride back since the appointment of Ryan Lowe in the second week of December. Lowe however, has just overseen two games since his arrival at Deepdale, but nevertheless, the club will delighted with the impact he has made with the side claiming victories over Barnsley and Stoke City respectively.
While much work is ahead for Lowe and his squad if they want to emerge as dark horses for promotion, possessing games in hand and momentum means that they cannot be written off at this stage. Therefore they will be determined to get another positive result here to maintain their form.
