Burnley will looking to put an end to their winless run when they host Huddersfield Town in the third round of the FA Cup at Turf Moore on Saturday afternoon with kickoff at 15:30.
Burnley have made a poor campaign this season with the club struggling to get the results as they only managed to win once in the Premier league and they dealt another blow to the underwhelming campaign when they suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Leeds United last Sunday. Prior to the defeat Burnley were coming off another 3-1 defeat away to Manchester United in the Premier League.
Burnley indeed head into the match in a poor form as they have not won a single match in two months across all competitions and they still remain in the relegation zone where they have been since mid-September though they are only two points adrift of safety with at least one match in hand on the rest of the league.
The Clarets will therefore be using this match as distraction from disastrous league campaign and will hope that a brief break from league action against Championship opposition can help turn the club’s fortunes around, having failed to win any of their last seven top-flight matches and hey will fancy their chances as they have progressed from the third round in each of the last three seasons, beating lower league oppositions at Turf Moor on each occasion. Also, when playing at home Burnley have not lost to Huddersfield in their last four encounters.
Meanwhile Huddersfield Town have made an impressive campaign in the Championship and are among the sides who are eying a promotion back to the top tier. They currently sit in the last promotion-playoff spot with just six points outside the direct-promotion spots.
Huddersfield head into the match in a good form as they have not lost in any of their last six matches in the Championship, but they failed to extend their winning streak to four matches when they met the high-flying Blackburn Rovers last time out. The sides fought to 0-0 draw, but Carlos Corberan’s side will have been pleased to have taken a point away from Ewood Park and to have kept their 10th clean sheet of the season.
Huddersfield now turn their attention to the FA Cup, a competition that they have struggled in over the years. The Terriers have failed to advance from the third round in five of the last seven seasons, including each of the last three, but facing a struggling Burnley they might fancy the opportunity.
