Bristol City vs Fulham Match Analysis and Prediction

The FA Cup returns to the fold this weekend with Bristol City hosting Fulham at Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon in the third round fixture of the competition with kickoff at 15:30.

Bristol City have been inconsistent this season in the Championship with the club collecting 30 points from 25 league matches and are currently 15^th in the standings. However, the hosts head into the match on the back of a positive start to 2022 as Nigel Pearson’s side edged Millwall 3-2 at home on Sunday the 2^nd, with the win moving the club 11 points clear of the relegation zone.

The win also saw the Robins bounce back from two consecutive defeats and Pearson will hoping that his side can keep the momentum going especially against a side that is lacking match practice.

Indeed Fulham have only played one match since December 11 and will be eager to return to the action on Saturday afternoon.

This will be an important match for Fulham who haven’t won a game since November 20^th, with the club recording four draws and a defeat during the period. The slump saw them drop in the third spot in the Championship with four points off the summit of the rankings but the Londoners have two matches in hand.

The Saturday match will be the first fixture for Fulham in 2022 and they will be looking to open the year in a positive manner. They will also be using the match as an opportunity to get back on track ahead of a favorable schedule in the short term in the Championship.

These two clubs have only met in the FA Cup on one previous occasion, Bristol City prevailing 2-1 in the second round during the 1989-90 campaign.
