Sixth takes on seventh in Eliteserien as Bodo/Glimt welcome Aalesund to Aspmyra Stadion for their league Matchday 11 tie on Sunday night.
Eliteserien’s reigning champions, Bodo/Glimt have made a slow start to their 2022 Norwegian top-flight campaign with the club recording four victories, four draws and two defeats in their 10 matches so far. Now with 16 points they sit sixth, level on points with fifth-placed Sarpsborg and seventh-placed Aalesund, and some 11 points away from the league’s summit.
They head into the Sunday’s clash off back-to-back victories in Eliteserien and NM Cup. They started with a 2-0 win over Kristiansund at away in the league last weekend, which saw them bounce back from two consecutive winless games in Eliteserien, before thumping Harstad 5-0 at away in the NM Cup last Wednesday.
Kjetil Knutsen’s side will now be looking to continue in their winning ways as they seek to defend their title. Having not lost to their visitors in the last five meetings and being unbeaten at home this season, Bodo should be confident of claiming another three points on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Aalesund will be delighted with their start to the 2022 Eliteserien following their promotion back to the top flight. Aalesund, although they have played one match more than the reigning champions, they sit level on 16 points with them having claimed four wins, four draws and three defeats in 11 games. It’s a perfect start to a newly-promoted side.
They are coming off a 3-0 confidence boosting win over Hoedd in the NM Cup last Wednesday. However, prior to that they were off back-to-back draws in the Eliteserien and will be looking to return to winning ways on Sunday.
But having failed to win at Aspmyra Stadion in their last three visits, suffering a 7-0 defeat last time they visited in Eliteserien back in 2020. It will take a lot of effort for Aalesund to take anything home from the Sunday’s clash.
