Second-placed and high-flying Molde will host a second from bottom and struggling Jerv in their Eliteserien Matchday 11 tie on Sunday night.
Molde, who finished second last season, have made a strong campaign this season and will be going for the title this time around. They currently sit second on 25 points having won eight and drawn one from their 11 games so far, and only two points separate them and the summit.
They head into the match off a 4-2 away win over Brattvaag in the second round of the NM Cup last Wednesday. They have now won each of their last nine games across all competitions, six of which have come in Eliteserien.
Erling Moe’s side will be looking to extend the run on Sunday as they hope to overtake Lillestrom to the summit, and considering their form they should fancy their chances.
Meanwhile Jerv have had a difficult time back in the Norwegian to-flight, with the side only managing to win two of their 10 league matches so far, while drawing just one and suffering seven defeats in the process.
With now seven points, Jerv sit second from bottom, in 15th, four points adrift of safety and six points off the rock-bottom Kristiansund. It’s still early for Jerv to start panicking, but they need to turn around their campaign as soon as possible to avoid an immediate return to the First Division.
They head into the Sunday’s tie off a confidence-boosting 2-1 away win over Fram in the second round of the NM Cup last Wednesday. The victory put an end to their five-match losing streak across all competitions and will looking to build on it.
